Houzz Tour: A Sydney Home Gets a Sleek extension and lots of space - This home Potts Point was not a house at all when the current owners bought, but a deck that had been divided into four apartments. He was in a dilapidated state when architects design studio Intelligent took with a view to transforming it into a contemporary home that could accommodate a varied number of occupants with ease. One partner travels abroad a lot for work and the other maintains and runs the house and the couple often has family members come and stay.

T he house had to accommodate most 1-2 people, sometimes up to eight adults, says architect William intelligent. The main objective was to create a private retreat center for themselves and their extended family.

from the street, the house next chip is as traditional as its neighbors, but the larger buildings on the side and rear meant privacy considerations should come into play for the planned expansion.

"Overall, the house falls into two halves: half a modern back and a traditional part of the front," said William .

The original (and "traditional") home now houses the living room and formal dining room, master bedroom and bathroom, a music room.

"We kept the interior design with high baseboards and dentil cornices panel doors, William adds.

William then added a variety of colors that complement heavy use, the appearance of each room and, in some cases, offset challenging aspects of the room. For example, this piece was once cold and dark, it was painted in blood red to provide warmth and color.

the kitchen is as elegant as the rest of the addition. To answer three levels, William was excavated back. The ground floor houses the living room / dining room and kitchen, while the original part of the house at this level houses the formal living room and dining room, and a cloakroom.
