The property - part of an old gin distillery - dates back to 1894, but a bland redevelopment in the 1990s had resulted in a maze of rooms and an indoor soulless. "He was very tired and dated when the owner bought" recalls designer Cassidy Hughes. "The layout was confusing, and there were pokey rooms and very little character.
The gregarious owner - who works from home - wanted a contemporary space in which to live and work, with plenty of space for entertaining. "We have completely opened up the kitchen to create a generous open plan lounge, and we also changed around the rooms and bathrooms to make a better use of space and improve the direction of flow between the chambers" says Cassidy.
High-tech gadgets controlled via the owner of the tablet, carved furniture and lighting functionality complete the look, which took almost a year Cassidy. "It was a very organic process at the end," she says. "The owner had a very clear vision of what he wanted to achieve at first, but as the work progresses, he came to me with new ideas and furniture he had found, so that the memory has evolved and adapted during the renovation process.

Vintage 1960 Brazilian designer Jorge Zalszupin chairs provide a sculptural focal point in another corner of the open plan living area. "They have a graphical profile perfectly, which complements the bar stools in the kitchen, and the coffee table," says Cassidy.
"We are really playing with horizontal and vertical lines in this part of the apartment, especially in the context of shutters duo. It is very effective but minimalist add drama to the plan. "

The graphite wall -mounted radiator is another dramatic piece. "It is a very minimalist space, so we chose a radiator that stand out, almost like an installation of art," says Cassidy. "It is beautiful and tactile and contrast well with the austerity of the room. Nobody ever guess it's a radiator.

the minimalist theme continues in the Rational kitchen without fuss, where the hidden storage and hidden cameras keep the clean look. "The owner is something of a perfectionist, so intelligent storage solutions were essential given the limited space," says Cassidy.

Laundry facilities are hidden behind custom units in the master bathroom. "There is also a pull-out rail where you can hang washing to dry without having it on the screen, said Cassidy.

"Creams and flexible moles soften the look in this room, but the LED lights emphasize the wow factor, says Cassidy.
