Houzz Tour: An elegant detached Victorian house in London - For over 30 years, this Victorian semi-detached house in south-west London had been divided into two separate apartments, but as soon the interior designer Laura Butler-Madden saw, she knew she could be brought back to its roots and become a large luxury home again.

The work took about nine months, ending in June 2015, with a new extension added to the rear and original features restored. Then all that was left was to decorate the rooms with a mix of glamor inspiration * Slim Aarons and traditional elegance.

Although the house had been converted into two apartments when Laura Butler-Madden and her husband bought , its basic structure was intact. "We had to take some frame walls and remove a kitchen on the first floor, but the rest has not changed too much," she said.

Some original features missing but there were some beautiful fireplaces still in situ. Renovation work involved stripping the back and adding new cornices and rosettes, to restore some of the grandeur and style lost the house.
