None of work on the house required planning Permission - it was done under permitted development. "This made the project happen faster," said O'Callaghan. "It was completed in just under a year from when we walked through the door and said hello.

the kitchen has provoked much discussion on how best to design and style. "We suggested something dark wood, but the owners have held that it was not too contemporary, said O'Callaghan . "We ended up with a very nice area that is a bit of both. It is a good example of how our work dynamic has produced excellent results.

"When working with a building of this age, you have two possible approaches, said O'Callaghan. "One option is to try to make all the right wall, as if it has just been built, which costs! this original arcade leads into the kitchen and dining room, which is now just a room. It was created by knocking two rooms together, so Metallic has been added to support this structure opened.

Creating double height space was more than just increase the light levels. "It was the idea of having a family space really well connected that wraps from the ground at the bottom right to higher ground floor, said O'Callaghan . Parents can cook while the kids are down play, but they can easily look over the glass to check on them, creating a greater sense of connection.

The staircase original leading down to lower ground floor morph into a contemporary design that connects with the low bench-cum-storage on the wall. The device is made from dark wenge wood and has toys for children.
